The Law of Threefold Return - Happy Capricorn Full Moon

Ever mind the Rule of Three,
Three times what thou givest returns to thee.
This lesson well, thou must learn,
Thee only gets what thou dost earn!


The Law of Threefold Return has a lovely numerical aesthetic. There is something about the number three that I find fascinating and I do think I am not alone in this interest. Numerologically, I personally come up as a three. Numbers have their own inherent beauty and each number speaks to us in it's own way.

Ever think about the old saying, "things come in threes" that relates to things either good or bad? Good as in "third times a charm" or bad as in "death comes in threes." Personally, death in and of itself isn't a bad thing. It's a thing like any other thing. Which brings me back to the inherent magic in the number three. It is the quintessential beginning, build up to the body of the event and then the culminating denouement.

It is the beauty of astrological Trine, the skill of the The Three Fates, the ferocity of Cerberus's three heads or the comic wit of The Three Stooges- the sacred geometry that surrounds us, cradles us even when we're not noticing it. Obviously then, Three is not just a number. It is a concept and an important one to keep in mind. Ever mind the Rule of Three.

The Law of Diminishing Returns is inapplicable in this instance: Three times what thou givest returns to thee. The smile you share with a stranger will not light them alone. Your smile warms them to smile at others and so it continues outward geometrically. By the same token, a frown begun in the same fashion, may be shared as well. Why not smile, then? Share joy.

This lesson well, thou must learn- a lesson not well learned will provide no education. If you don't keep in mind your lessons, when the true tests of life come up, there won't be anything to pull from the file folder of the brain to work out what to do.

It's best not only to mind one's lessons, but to put them into practice and use. With lessons in place and practice in ones life, your actions extrapolate outward, just like the smile discussed earlier. It's better to put the smile out there instead of the frown so when what goes around comes around, you get that smile back three fold- Thee only gets what thou dost earn!
